A devotee visiting the renowned Srisailam Devasthanam temple in Andhra Pradesh has claimed to have discovered a cockroach inside the laddoo prasadam offered at the temple. The individual, identified as Saraschandra K, posted a video on social media allegedly showing a dead insect embedded in the center of the sacred sweet.

According to Saraschandra, the incident occurred on June 29 during his visit to the temple. Deeply disturbed by the discovery, he lodged a formal complaint with the temple administration, calling the incident a result of “negligence” on the part of the staff responsible for preparing the prasadam.

In his written statement, he expressed emotional distress, stating, “I visited Srisailam Devasthanam on June 29, and in the laddoo prasadam, I found an insect, which appeared to be a cockroach. This reflects a lack of proper care by the temple kitchen staff. I request the administration to investigate and address the issue.”

Temple Denies Allegation

Responding to the complaint, the temple authorities have categorically denied the allegation. Srisailam Temple Executive Officer, Srinivasa Rao, emphasized that the laddoo preparation process adheres to strict hygiene standards and is closely monitored by trained personnel at every stage.

“The laddoos are made in a sanitized environment under constant supervision. There is no possibility of any insect, including a cockroach, entering the prasadam during preparation,” Rao stated.

He further urged devotees not to be misled by viral videos or unverified claims. “We assure all devotees that the prasadam is prepared with utmost care and devotion. There is no cause for concern,” he added.

The video has since gone viral, sparking debate on social media, but the temple maintains that its food safety protocols are robust and continuously enforced.
